In 2018, Maria had to leave the farm she rented for her dogs. After a long process, with the help of the German non-profit support group, Maria and Adrian succeeded in buying a large piece of land. Being allocated far from all housing the dogs can live undisturbed. In the summer of 2019, the long process of building began. As you can see in the pictures it is a nice mountain area, with beautiful views.

On the other hand, it is also harsh when the weather turns out to be unfriendly. The rain comes in, mud mixed with feces, the cold in wintertime or the burning sun in summertime. Therefore, we are looking for sponsors who have the knowledge and interest to help and support the construction of a larger canopy / roof for the shelter.

The first pictures show Maria’s former farm, where it is clear that there is a great lack of everything.
then the land is bought and construction is underway for the small donations that are given by volunteers.

The local regulations do not allow any foundation un the ground. Therefore, a cement layer must be laid on top of the ground, where metal rods and nets that create the small bases can be cast into.
A small enclosed area for homeless cats has also been created.

The shelter does not have access to running water, electricity or sanitation. The dogs poo is put in 2 big liquid tanks and the earth which are emptied by a pipe clean company that comes with a big truck. Therefore, it is not only harsh for all the dogs living there, but also for Maria and Adrian when they work there. Which also makes it very difficult for them to get staff and volunteers to want to be there.  Therefore, we are applying for support to set up some transportable houses, which can provide shelter, heat and accommodation.

In the meantime the shelter could be provided with a fountain by donations so at least they do not have to take the 1000 liter tanks home in sun, rain, snow anymore to fill them .

The shelter has in 2020 been sponsored and thus installed solar cells. So now there is electricity that can drive a bit of lighting, as well as monitoring of the shelter via cameras that are set up. This gives Maria and Adrian the possibility to follow the shelter and the dogs from their homes and phones around the clock.

The road up to the shelter is also a huge problem – as there is no road.

When the weather is bad, it happens that there is so much mud that they have had to dig the cars free. Often they have to park the cars at the end of the road and walk to the shelter.

There is a need to create a durable solution so that heavy transport can drive back and forth without paving. That is why we are looking for sponsors who can help with solutions to this.

But thanks to a big donation they have received an 4-wheel pick up truck to send and exchange goods and dogs the 500 metres between shelter and street. Nervertheless, this is really really hard work: dirty and exhausting.
